Windsor Curated is a free public community tool site that I developed to help locals in Windsor Ontario find information about things going on in the city, improve visual clarity from government tools like ecoli monitoring, and promote local businesses. The site is a collection of free-to-use custom-coded web apps running off my own server and github profile. The goal of the site is to give back to the local community and provide tools that I wish existed when I was growing up in the city.

The Importance Of Free Tools

No matter what type of website you own, every website needs a reason for people to visit it. Whether that reason is products, services, or blog posts inspired by your experiences, there has to be at least 1 reason for customers to visit your website. 

With the rise of AI based search and AI overviews, ranking has become less about providing information and more about providing value to the end user. In the base of Windsor Curated, I have created over a dozen free tools that keep users coming back to my website and its many subdomain tools. I have created multiple evergreen tools that encourage returning visitors to the website by giving them free tools that improve their quality of life.

SEO is no longer just about publishing as much content as possible to rank for as many keywords as possible. The game has changed! Now it’s all about being the solution to your customers’ problems.

Upon inspection of this site, you will notice many of the tactics considered “standards” to the SEO space have not been implemented. This was done on purpose to monitor the impact of word of mouth, return traffic, and high time on page have when it comes to long-term organic search rankings.
